Special Needs Scouting
Special Needs Scouting Scholarships
$150
- For many children with disabilities the traditional Scouting experience is often not possible. Special Needs Classroom Scouting is a collaboration of Learning for Life (a division of the BSA) and the Girl Scouts of the Gateway Council. Through its curriculum-based activity packets, Special Needs Scouting promotes character development, life skills, behavior management, mental and physical fitness, good citizenship, self-esteem and a sense of belonging. Participants in the Classroom Scouting program earn traditional and unique pins and badges. They have the opportunity to enjoy an outdoor day camp experience and an overnight camp at Camp Echockotee. Each year, this overnight camping experience hosts over 500 Special Needs students and their families. One scholarship will pay for one child to participate in the program for one year. Total value: $150 per scholarship.
